Kayode Egbetokun was, on Tuesday, confirmed as the substantive Inspector General of Police (IGP) by the National Police Council.
Ibrahim Gaidam, the Minister of Police Affairs, broke the news to newsmen at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa after the meeting of the Police Council.
Egbetokun was appointed as acting Inspector-General of Police on June 20, and functioned as such until Tuesday’s confirmation.
The Police Council is chaired by the President with but comprises the 36 state governors, the Minister of the FCT, Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), and the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) as members.
Gaidam lauded the IGP’ pedigree, adding that he had performed impressively since he took over the helm of the Nigeria Police. appointment.
