Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, on Thursday, slumped at the third National Identity Day celebration at the Banquet Hall of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, in Abuja.
Bawa who was delivering a goodwill message suddenly stopped, staggered back to his seat, and laid down.
He was talking about a man the commission arrested in Ibadan, Oyo state, with 116 SIM cards when the incident happened.
It was gathered that Bawa suddenly stopped talking and covered his face with his right palm, saying, “Please, excuse me, I can’t continue.”
He was assisted to his seat by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Pantami and other senior officials at the event, but the anti-graft czar slumped on his seat he was immediately rushed out of the seat of power.
The Master of Ceremony (MC) later announced that the Bawa’s condition was stable.
“I am happy to announce to you that the EFCC Chairman is now stable,” he said.
But the chairman and those who rushed him out were yet to return to the hall as at time of filing this report.
