Council election: Lagos APC flags off campaign as Sanwo-Olu presents flag to candidates

The All Progressives Congress, APC, party in Lagos on Sunday officially handed party flags to each of it’s candidates and their vice in the forthcoming local government election in the state.

The handing over was done by the state governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and the Lagos State APC Chairnan, Tunde Balogun, at the party’ secretariat, Acme road, Ikeja.

The event also signified the beginning of campaign for the party. The council poll is schedule to take place on Saturday July 24 in all the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas, LCDAs as well as the 377wards for councillorship positions.

In his speech, Governor Sanwo-Olu implored all prospective candidates to leverage on the success of the party at the national and state levels and ensure the party wins across all the local government areas of the state.

He expressed confidence held that the candidates were going to make the party proud by winniing all the local government areas, and admonished the flagbearers to take their campaigns to the grassroots for the success of the APC in the state.

The Governor also urged Muslims faithful to observed the Covid 19 safety protocols as they celebrate the Eid-el- Kabir celebration saying the Federal Government had assured that the vaccines for second phase would soon be delivered to the state government.

In his welcome address, the APC Chairman in Lagos, Tunde Balogun, enjoined the candidates to campaign vigorously at the grassroots to become victorious.

He also warned the candidates that they should not cause trouble in their councils and not change the lists of the councillors in their areas.

Present at the event were the Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, Speaker Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, State Chairman of the party, Tunde Balogun, members of the APC’s Governing Advisory Council in the State, party members, among others.
