16 state govs endorse state police

Sixteen state governors have submitted reports to the National Economic Council (NEC), endorsing the creation of state police in the country.

 

 

According to Stanley Nkwocha, the Special Adviser to the Vice President on Media and Communications, the reports were submitted at the 140th NEC meeting presided over by Vice President Kashim Shettima at Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.

Nebeolisa Anako, the Secretary to NEC, reportedly made a presentation on the submissions by the states, which also canvassed for constitutional changes to allow for the creation of state police.

 

 

However, the specific states that made the reports were not disclosed.
