Zamfara Emirs condemn alleged plan to remove police boss

The Zamfara State Council of Chiefs has raised the alarm over reported clandestine moves by some considered disgruntled politicians in the state to ensure the transfer of the state’s Commissioner of Police, Usman Nagogo.

Briefing journalists at the end of the Council’s meeting, in Gusau, Chairman of the Council and Emir of Anka, Alhaji Attahiru Muhammad Ahmad, said as the custodians of the people’s culture and moral values, they condemn and reject, in totality, any move by some politicians to engineer the transfer CP Nagogo from the  state as such would amount to sabotage on peace and security in the state.

According to him, “At this juncture, when the concerted effort to restore peace and security in the state is yielding positive results, it would be a draw back when such action is taken.

“People in the state are happy with the way the CP is handling security issues since his arrival, especially his commendable and professional approach in addressing arm banditry, cattle rustling and other crimes”, he said.

The traditional rulers also called on the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, and other relevant authorities, to ignore and reject “the selfish call by any individual or group to remove Nagogo from Zamfara State”.
