Yorubaland Installs First Wazirul Muminina (Prime Minister)

Ustaz Adekilekun was immediately turbaned  as the Wazirul  Muminina by the Leadership of the  League led by the President General, League of Imams and  Alfas in the South West , Edo and Delta, Sheikh Bello Kewulere.

Speaking at the turbaning of the Wazirul Muminina, held at the South West headquarters  of the League,  an Islamic Scholar, Professor  Kamil Koyejo Oloso described  the Waziri Muminina of Yorubaland as the best choice for now considering his contributions to the growth and development of Islam .

The Professor of Arabic and Islamic Studies stressed that the new Waziri Muminina of Yorubaland has played major roles in promoting Islam both in the academic world and beyond.

The Chief Imam of Oyo, Sheikh  Abdul Ganiyu Adebayo while speaking hailed the appointment of Ustaz Abdul- Lateef Adekilekun, as a good omen to the development of Islam in and across  the South west zone and beyond.

Before his turbaning as the  Waziri Muminina of Yorubaland , all the Chief Imams in the South west zone led by the President  General ,League of Imams and  Alfas in South west zone , Sheikh Bello Kewulere jointly  adopted and endorsed the appointment of Ustaz Adekilekun.

The turbaning ceremony  was attended by the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Alhaji Ganiyu Agbotomokekere, Chief Imam of Osun state, Alhaji Musa Animasahun, Sheikh Abdul Ganiyu Adebayo, Chief Imam of  Oyoland, Grand Mufti of Ondo state, Sheikh Zirajudeen Batuta, Professor Kamil Oloso and other Muslim leaders from all the South west zone

Speaking with journalists before the turbaning, Ustaz  Adekilekun advised the Federal  Government to reconsider its foreign policies .

The Wazirul Muminina who was commenting on the on going Xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and the reactions generated by the attacks lamented the situation which he said has been lingering since.

He however  blamed the situation on the increasing spate of laxity in the society , adding that there is the need for the government to look for matured people  to handle the issue of morality.

Speaking on his roles as the  Wazirul Muminina of Yorubaland , Ustaz Adekilekun  who is the current  Zonal Coordinator , National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies , (NBAIS), Kwara zone and Grand Mufti of Edeland, Osun state said as the  Waziri, he will be the Prime Minister to all the Muslims in Yorubaland .

The newly turbaned  Wazirul Muminimi pointed out that with the new office, he is expected to coordinate activities of all Muslims in Yorubaland  and particularly to ensure that good relationship  exists between the Muslims and Christians  in Yorubaland and the entire Nigeria .

Ustaz Adekilekun  stressed that his installation and turbaning as the  first Wazirul Muminina of Yorubaland was unique as lots of factors were put into considerations before the Imams and  Alfas in South west zone unanimously agreed on his choice for the newly created office of Wazirul Muminina of Yorubaland .

Adekilekun who graduated from a Cairo University in 1972; before obtaining postgraduate degrees at the University of Ibadan and Ahmadu Bello University, among others, is a native of Ede, also in Osun state.
