Woman on the run for murdering husband arrested in boyfriend’s house

 

 

The police in South Africa have arrested a woman, Hallimah Thamando Mnyobisi who have been on the run after she allegedly murdered her husband.

According to the police, Hallimah was found and arrested in her boyfriend’s house in Sandton, Gauteng and taken to the Botshabelo Magistrate Court on Thursday, 28 November 2024.

She was declared wanted by the police after she stabbed her husband, 35-year old Fezile Mnyobisi who was a teacher in Botshabelo, Free State, 30 times on September 15, 2024.

Police said after committing the crime, she took her husband to the hospital in a private vehicle but was declared dead on arrival. She absconded and has been on the wanted list of the police.

Speaking on how she and other suspects were arrested, police spokesperson, Sgt Mahlomola Kareli said the brother-in-law of the deceased was among those arrested.

He said 43-year old Vusumuzi Daniel Nqele, and 35-year old Moeketsi Innocent Manko, were first arrested on November 8 for murder and conspiracy to murder which later led to the arrest of the deceased’s brother-in-law, 35-year old Abdool Thamando in Johannesburg.

“After intensive investigation by Botshabelo detectives working with the provincial investigative psychology section, three suspects were arrested after warrants of arrest were issued.

On how Halimah was arrested, the police spokesperson said: “On November 26 at about 4pm, the team followed information that led them to an accommodation complex in Sandton. While there they found the 38-year-old hiding at one of the luxury units. She was staying with her alleged boyfriend.”

Other suspects in the murder who had earlier been arrested have been in police custody and will now be joined by Halimah on 3 December in court when the court will decide whether to grant them bail or not.
