Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has pleaded for continuous media support for his administration in the area of effective reportage of his administration’s activities, programs and visions.

During a historical visit to the World Press Centre, Alausa, the governor, who was accompanied by his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, the Secretary to the state government, Mrs Folashade Jaji, the Head of Service, Muri Okunola and the Chief of Staff, Tayo Ayinde, while addressing members of the Lagos State Governor’s Office Correspondents (LAGOCO), who doubles as his media crew, said as the fourth estate of the realm, the media are very crucial to the success of his administration.

The visit is historic in the sense that none of the past governor in the state since 1999 has ever made such visit to the press centre.

The governor said his visit was an evidence of how much his administration values the media, adding “without the media, one is on a journey to nowhere.”

“I believe without the media, one is on a journey to nowhere.  I want to thank you from the depth of my heart for all the support you have given to us right from the campaign days till now.  Your role is definite. I realise how important it is to have a channel of communication. You have supported us but we want to appeal to you to do more. We want our activities to be well communicated. We have all started well and I have no doubt it will continue,” he said.

He added, ” The issue about governance is about people that are on the streets. They are the ones that can truly define us. We must ensure we get positive response from the people. It is when Lagosians give us feedback that we know what we are doing right or not.”

The governor assured his administration will assist in training of media personnel and provide tools which will help the media to discharge their duties.

” In areas of training, we will support you professionally so you can discharge your duties. We will continue to raise the bar of governance so that we will have good things to show people who brought us here,” he concluded.
