The Lagos State Parastatals Monitoring Office, PMO, has said that the Office does not sanction less performing agencies and parastatals because the government policy does not allow for sanction of such agencies.

The Permanent Secretary, Parastatals Monitoring Office, Adetutu Ososanya, made the disclosure on Thursday at the ongoing 2025 Ministerial Press Briefing while speaking on the performance of the Office in commemoration of the sixth year in office of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat.

According to her, the Office is saddled with the responsibility of monitoring and evaluating the performance of parastatals, agencies and government -owned entities with a view to making them transparent, accountable and efficient in their operations.

She said out of the total 102 agencies and parastatals in the state, the PMO conducted an inspection exercise for 86 of them, including revenue generating agencies, between November and December 2024.

While she admitted that some of the agencies did not perform up to expectations, she noted that their heads were not sanctioned.

“In government, we don’t sanction agencies and parastatals for non-performance. When we notice gaps in their performances, we invite the Chief Executive Officers, CEOs and discuss with them how to mitigate factors that affect their operations,” she said.

The Permanent Secretary further said the administration has plans to embark on a pilot verification of pensioners in

parastatals, agencies and government-owned companies imbued with independent power of recruitment within the civil service structure.

She said the PMO is committed to work collaboratively with Lagos State Pension Commission and the Ministry of Establishments and training to ensure synergy and seamless execution across board on the verification exercise.
