UPDATED: Ogun gov. inaugurates 9th Assembly

…Oluomo emerges Speaker

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, on Monday, inaugurated the 9th Ogun State House of Assembly.

A former deputy Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, representing Ifo State constituency 1, emerged the new Speaker on a consensus arrangement.

The office of the Deputy Speaker went to Hon. Dare Kadiri representing Ijebu North Constituency 2.

Prominent among those who witnessed the inauguration of the 9th Assembly included the immediate past Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Suraj Adekumbi, former Speakers, Rt. Hon. Muyiwa Oladipo, Rt. Hon. Titi Oseni, as well as the State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The election was conducted by the Clerk of the House, Mr. Jonathan Olujobi.

Oluomo was nominated as Speaker by member representing Ikenne State constituency 1, Olakunle Sobukonla.

The nomination was seconded by Adegoke Adeyanju, member representing Yewa North 1 State constituency.

The new Speaker, Hon. Oluomo promised to work in harmony with the executive in order to fast track development in the gateway State.

“Let me on behalf of my colleagues assure the good people of Ogun State that we are going to support the government in achieving its target for the masses.

“We will work together for the peace and progress of this State. Let me assure our party leaders that we shall work with our government to bring dividends of democracy to the people.

“We shall work in harmony for the progress of our State. We shall do everything within our power to ensure that we make laws and legislation that will increase and enhance the socio- economic empowerment of the people of Ogun State.” He said.
