Academics, clerics, colleagues, friends and family members bade farewell to former President, Nigerian Society for the Study of Pain, Prof. Simbo Amanor-Boadu on Friday in Ibadan.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Amanor-Boadu was until her death on July 31, the Head, Hospice and Palliative Care Department of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.
The funeral service held at the Chapel of Resurrection, University of Ibadan, featured eulogies and tributes by friends and colleagues who adjudged that the late professor of anaesthesia’s life as “well-lived, purposeful and impactful.“
Prof. Temitope Alonge, the immediate past Chief Medical Director of UCH, described the death of the 67-year-old anesthetist as a great loss.
“She was my teacher and I called her auntie because she saw me as a son; the legacy that one can attribute to her is the fact that, she was dogged and very bold as an anaesthetist.

“She would take up cases that ordinarily would have been abandoned; not because of heroism but because her knowledge base was extremely deep.
“I urge those coming up in the medical profession to take up medicine as their life as she did and this helped her made a difference in patients` care.She was humane and kind,” Alonge said.
The Director of Administration, UCH, Mr. Adeyemi Siyanbola, said the demise of Amanor-Boadu was a monumental loss to the hospital and the academic community.
“She contributed immensely to the growth of not only the anaesthetic field but also the progress of the Hospice and Palliative Department of the hospital.
“We pray that almighty God will console the entire family,” he said.
Her first son, Prof. Vincent Amanor-Boadu, described the late anaesthetist as a compassionate woman who taught him that the most important thing in life was love.
Speaking at the funeral, Ven. Adefolarin Malomo, described the deceased as a God-fearing woman who showed love to everyone among other attributes. (NAN)
