The commercial city of Onitsha, Anambra State was in the early hours of Friday hit by a tragedy, involving a two-storey, which was gutted by fire.
Operatives of the Anambra State Fire Service promptly rushed to the scene to intervene and stem its spread to adjoining structures.
The incident occurred at Ifejika Street, by Sokoto Road, Onitsha, where the residents, passersby and men of the fire service were battling to salvage some properties and goods from the building.

It was gathered that the fire which began at one of the buildings at about 6:20am.
The cause of the fire has not yet been ascertained.
However, Chukwudi Chiketa, the head of the Media and Publicity Unit of the Anambra State Fire Service, confirmed the incident.
