The Police Command in Lagos State has detained a suspected traffic robber for allegedly stealing N20 million worth of human hair from a moving truck on the CMS-Marina Bridge area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this in a statement on Thursday in Lagos.
Hundeyin said that detectives of the Ebute-Ero division apprehended the suspect following a tip-off about a brazen highway theft.
“On April 25, a criminal gang stole a large sack filled with assorted human hair valued at approximately N20 million from a moving truck, unknown to the driver, while on transit along the CMS-Marina Bridge.
Responding swiftly to a tip-off, police officers arrived at the scene and successfully apprehended one of the suspects with injuries in the Marina car park under the bridge.
“The suspect sustained the injuries when he jumped from the bridge into the car park in his bid to evade arrest.
“He was found in possession of the stolen goods and taken to a hospital for proper medical attention under close police watch,” he said.
Hundeyin said that a manhunt is currently underway to bring other members of his gang to justice.
He said that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Olohundare Jimoh, had reaffirmed the command’s unwavering determination to ensure the safety of all road users across the state.
The spokesperson called on residents to remain alert and cooperate with security agencies by reporting any suspicious activity. (NAN)
