Three in soup for allegedly killing pregnant student in Adamawa

It was gathered that the trio connived and killed Franca Elisha and buried her in a shallow grave, and continued with their normal academic activities as if nothing happened.

Abubakar has reportedly confessed to impregnating the victim and requested her to abort the pregnancy.The police said Abubakar took the deceased into his room located at a students’ community behind the State University, Mubi, for the abortion on August 6, 2021 and invited his friend, Huzaifa Shuaibu who is a student of the College of Health Technology, Mubi, to carry out the abortion.

One of the suspects, Huzaifa, was said to have administered an injection to Franca for the abortion but she fainted immediately and regained consciousness later after spirited efforts.

For a perfect termination of the pregnancy, Huzaifa, gave her a second dose of the injection after she regained consciousness, and she fainted again the second time and subsequently died in the room.

Sensing danger, Muniru Abubakar was said to have invited one of his other friends, a student of the Polytechnic, Rabiu Adamu, who conspired with them to bury the corpse in a shallow grave with her mobile phone, national identity card and other items that can expose the heinous crime they have committed.

A friend of the late Franca had told her father that they had been together with Abubakar, but that she later returned to the hostel because of rain, leaving behind the deceased and her boyfriend.According to Franca’s father, when they asked her to take them to the house of the suspect, she told them that she did not know where the house is located and started avoiding them and refusing to take their calls until they invited police into the matter.

He explained further that when the police apprehended the lady, she revealed to them where the suspect would be traced, and that the Police in company with family members met the accused person, playing football where he was arrested. He later led them to where they buried late Franca.

When contacted, the Adamawa Police Command’s Spokesman, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje,  confirmed the killing of the lady, saying that “the matter was reported to the command” adding that the Commissioner of Police, Aliyu Alhaji, has ordered full investigations while the suspects were arrested.

DSP Suleman Nguroje said that investigation so far revealed that it was Muniru Abubakar who impregnated her and that it was Huzaifa Shuaibu who administered an injection, while Rabiu Adamu assisted in burying the corpse saying that the suspects will soon be charged to court.
