Tanzanian fans fired up my boys – Amunike

Emmanuel Amunike says he has the fans to thank after he led Tanzania to qualify for the Nations Cup for the first time in 39 years.

The Taifa Stars playing in front of a full house at the Dar Es Salam Stadium on Sunday hit group leaders, Uganda hard winning by 3-0, a result that saw them land in Egypt.

Amuneke was full of praise for the fans declaring that they fired up his boys with their massive support.

Amunike also thanked the government of Tanzania for throwing its weight behind the team. The government had pledged to handsomely reward the team should they beat Uganda and qualify for the Nations Cup. Uganda in spite of the defeat suffered in Dar finished on top of the group with 13 points, while Tanzania came second with eight points. Lesotho and Cape Verde played out a goalless draw in Praia to finish third and fourth respectively.
