Suspect impersonates NSCDC officer to rob in Ogun

A notorious robbery suspect, Adeolu Bankole, who camouflages as a Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), operative, has been arrested by men of the Ogun’s State Police Command.
Bankole, it was learnt, clad in NSCDC uniform to carry out robbery operations, but was apprehended on February 5, following complaints by some students of Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ayetoro campus.
The suspect, who was feared by many along that axis, dispossess victims of belonging such as phones, laptops, and monies at gunpoint.
According to Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), a report to the Ayetoro Police Area Command, led to the arrest of the suspect.

Oyeyemi said: “ Upon the report, the Area Commander Ayetoro, Anthony Haruna, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), detailed his detectives to go after the hoodlum.
“ After hours of painstaking investigation, the detectives received information about the hideout of the suspect. On getting there, a bag containing six phones, one laptop, a pair of civil defense uniform and a locally made pistol was found.
“ Upon the discovery, the detectives mounted surveillance in the area and at about 5p.m. the suspect sneaked into the uncompleted building, which is the hideout and moved straight to where the bag was kept. He was quickly rounded up and brought to the station.
“ Two other stolen phones and a wrist watch was also found on him. The complainants were sent for, and they all identified him as the person who robbed them. Investigation further revealed that the suspect stole the pair of NSCDC uniform from a parked Toyota Camry belonging to an officer of the Corp in December 2020 and thereafter set the car ablaze. The officer has also identified the uniform as his own.”
He further stated that the Ogun State Commissioner of Police (CP)Edward Ajogun, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.
