State police: Afenifere under fire for begging Buhari

Anthony Iwuoma
Former aide to ex-president Godluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has carpeted  the apex Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, for asking President Muhammadu Buhari to allow state police.

Afenifere had in a communique after its meeting urged the Federal Government to urgently bring to an end acts terrorism, kidnapping, banditry,  farmers – herders clashes and all criminalities in the country.

Afenifere noted that these challenges can be stopped through state policing and impreessed the need for state police on the president.

However, Omokri in a post via his Twitter account on Wednesday expressed disappointment with Afenifere, describing the request to the president  as disgraceful, ading that if Kano didn’t ask anyone before creating hisbah and were not  stopped by Buhari, he has no right to stop state police.

Omokri wrote: “I am so disappointed with Afenifere for asking for state police from Buhari.

“Who gave Kano Hisbah? Did Kano ask anyone for Hisbah? They just created it. Stop asking Buhari for state police. Create it.””
