Star Plus FC targets Enugu State FA Cup final

Anistar Izuikem, Star Plus Football Club Coach, says the club wants to reach the Enugu State FA Cup final and pick a slot to national.

Izuikem made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu State on Thursday.

He was optimistic that the club would surpass its previous outings.

“For us to reach this level and thrashing Rangers Feeders 4-0 in the ongoing FA Cup quarterfinals, showed that we are getting it right this time around.

“Our target in this year’s FA Cup is to represent the state at the national level and to achieve this; we have to reach the final.

“We are going to take our matches one after another until we get to our destination which is probably being the winner or runner-up.

“The victory over Rangers Feeders was a sweet one because the players did not want to be on the losing end twice.

“Rangers Feeders defeated us last year and that was why the players came all out fighting and it paid off at the end as we proved a point, ‘’ he said.

Izuikem said that the victory showed that Star Plus was growing as they were able to beat the Feeders by 4-0 without conceding.

Chukwujekwu Okpali, Star Plus player who scored two goals against Rangers Feeders, said that wining the two matches in the competition gave him joy.

“It pleased me that I scored two goals against our quarterfinals opponent and worthy of jubilation that out of the two matches, we scored six goals.

“ We are going to win our next match against Lamray FC on Sunday, April 14, because the moral is high at the moment,” Okpali said.

NAN reports that Star Plus started their 2019 FA Cup with 2-1 victory over the Enugu State league defending champions, Ingas FC.
