Soldiers strip lady naked over indecent dressing

A video of a soldier seen stripping a lady naked for allegedly dressing indecently has surfaced online and gone viral.

The ugly incident was said to have taken place at Oju-Ore in Ota axis of Ogun state on Saturday morning.

The lady was said to have been trekking on the road when the yet-to-be-identified soldier alighted from a commercial bus he boarded and descended on her for not “dressing properly.”

The man in military uniform was said to have slapped the lady repeatedly and thereafter pulled her back with her braided long hair when she attempted to escape a further beating.

It was gathered that the soldier also attempted to remove the lady’s bra but left her after passers-by pleaded on her behalf.

The soldier went back to the commercial bus he earlier boarded afterwards before the driver left the scene.

“This soldier got out from the bus he was in to drag this girl on the road and start beating her. He slapped her, dragged her hair, all because of how she was dressed,” said a Twitter user who shared the video.

“This was in Ogun state and I just wished there was a way to get this stupid soldier. The worst part of this thing is there was a woman that thought this was right and she said ‘this will be a lesson to her and others.”

TheCable Lifestyle could not reach Olaniyi Osoba, spokesman for 81 division of the Nigerian army, for comment over the incident — as of the time this report was filed — as his phone was switched off.

The development, which has since provoked condemnation on social media, comes at a time when the dust generated by the #EndSARS protest aimed at tackling police brutality are yet to fully settle.

It further stretches allegations of assaults against operatives of the army by Nigerians.

Last month, Emiola David, a poultry farmer, narrated to TheCable how a soldier forcefully cut his hair using a pair of scissors in Ibadan, Oyo state.

A lady identified as Ada-Oma had also alleged assault by a soldier when she visited a branch of the United Bank for Africa (UBA) at Oshodi axis of Lagos to withdraw money.
