Sokoto govt. to partner Moroccan firm on phosphate blending plant

The Sokoto State Government has expressed willingness to partner with the OCP Morocco for the establishment of phosphate blending plant in the state.

Governor Aminu waziri Tambuwal stated this in his remarks during a bilateral meeting with the team of OCP Morocco led by its Managing Director Mohammed Hettiti at Government House, Sokoto.

Governor Tambuwal said that Sokoto State has one of the largest deposits of high quality phosphate in Nigeria.

He said that establishing the plant in sokoto would be big step towards making fertilizer readily available and affordable.

Earlier the managing Director of OCP Morocco Mohammed Hettiti thanked the state government for giving them the opportunity to present their plan for the phosphate project.

Meanwhile the Sokoto State Government has allocated 10 hectres of Land at Kalambaina industrial layout for the construction of phosphate blending plant.

The team from OCP Morocco, together with Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, were conducted round the allocated land by the state commissioner of lands and housing Hon Sirajo Marafa Gatawa.

Speaking shortly after inspecting the land Governor Tambuwal said that process of issuing certificate of occupancy  for the Land would be expedited.

Commenting, Hettiti said construction work for the factory would commence between  December and January.
