Social distancing directive: Buhari’s minister drives self to meeting

The restriction of movement and social distancing order placed on all Nigerians and some parts of the country by President Muhammadu Buhari, as a way to contain the spreading Coronavirus, has begun to take its toll even among the high and mighty in the society.

On Monday, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo, drove himself to a meeting with manufacturers and captains of industries.

The minister said this was in compliance with the directive of President Muhammadu Buhari on social distancing following the outbreak of Coronavirus disease in Nigeria.

So, also has the Federal Government directed all its staff to work from home except those on essential services in order to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Tweeting on his Twitter handle in the early hours of Monday, Adebayo said: “As directed by Mr. President, I’m heading to work to meet with manufacturers and captains of industries to ensure that they have a conducive working environment to meet the daily needs of Nigerians during these challenging times.

“Times have changed.

“We must adapt.

“The FG has instructed that all non-essential staff should stay at home to maintain #SocialDistancing.”
