A Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), whose identity could not be revealed, as at time of filing this report, but attached to the 21 Police Mobile Force (PMF) Nyanya, Abuja, has bolted after testing positive to Coronavirus.

It was learnt that  the police officer, who had been on quarantine and receiving treatment at the National Hospital Abuja isolation centre, had left the facility, and returned home, unknown to officials.

He had embraced self-treatment and use of traditional remedies, at his Gariki Barracks family residence.

According to a report, officials of the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) led by policemen from the Gariki Police Division, came to evacuate the senior police officer, last Friday, but met stiff resistance.

He allegedly refused to open his door despite plea by officials, as he and his family members  were seen peeping from the widow to know when the officials left.

Shortly after the departure of the policemen and NCDC officials, the CSP allegedly came out, looked around and drove out in his personal car.

A police source told The Nation saying: “Surveillance teams have been set up to trail and take him into custody. Police medical team has been alerted and on standby.”

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mansah, who was called to confirm the incident said he was unaware of it.
