The Senate, on Thursday, summoned the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, to brief the federal lawmakers holistically on what have been done to tackle kidnapping in the country.

The IGP is expected to brief Senate next week on the development.

Sen. Sani, while speaking on the motion, expressed dismay with the wave and spate of armed banditry and kidnapping in most parts of the country, from the North, South, East and Western part of the country without a formidable and technological approach to fight the heinous crime.

The Upper Chamber also demanded for special security cover to foreign workers and tourists.

In addition, the Senate asked security agencies to immediately deploy the use of drones and interceptors in tracking kidnappers asking for ransom.
