Sen. Marafa denies dumping APC with ex-Gov. Yari

Sen. Kabiru Marafa, a factional leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Zamfara State,  has denied media reports that he and former governor of the state, Abdul’aziz Yari, had defected from the APC.

Marafa described the reports as a “wishful thinking of minions”.

The social media have been awash with reports that Bukola Saraki, former senate president, had lured Yari and Marafa to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“This is the wishful thinking of the minions, parading themselves as the new owners of APC today. We are senior engineers and architects in the project team that designed, built and maintained APC from the beginning to date,” Marafa said.

“We are not going to leave the complex in the hands of those who were laborers, masons, plumbers and carpenters in the design and construction days, NO WAY!!

“We are not going anywhere. Emir no de go transfer,” he said.

The reports had it that Yari had agreed to return to the PDP and promised to use all necessary resources to fight the ruling APC in the 2023 general elections.

Yari was reportedly seen alighting from what seemed to be a private jet along with Saraki, Marafa and others at an airport for PDP Caucus meeting.

Yari and Marafa had been allegedly working secretly against their party, the APC. Apart from distancing himself from activities of the APC since he left office; sending a representative at best, the former governor was also reported to have given the embattled Deputy Governor of the state, Mahdi Aliyu Gusau, the sum of N50 million, as his contribution to  for the just concluded PDP National Congress.

Therefore, the reported defection did not come as a surprise to many.

However, Yari has poured sand on the reported move, saying neither he nor Yari was leaving the APC.
