Schoolchildren run home as IPOB enforces sit-at-home in Imo

Pandemonium broke out in Owerri, Imo State, as gunmen went about shooting sporadically and chased those who did not obey the sit-at-home order.

IPOB had declared that there will be a sit-at-home every Monday to protest the arrest of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu. The sit-at-home was purportedly cancelled by the proscribed group but residents have, who tried to move about in the South-East on Mondays are harassed.

Today, there was sporadic shooting as gunmen went after those who were observing the order in Owerri.

Schoolchildren and teachers had to run home as Banks, hotels, shops and other workplaces were also hurriedly shut on Monday.

Parents and guardians rushed to schools to pick up their wards

Street hawkers, bike riders, bus drivers, and other service providers scampered safety, leaving the streets deserted.

A resident said airlines delayed their flight.
