Sanwo-Olu has no property in VGC -Residents

...Adopt measures to forestall hoodlums’ attack

VGC Property Owners and Residents Association (VGCPORA) in Lekki, Lagos has denied that the State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has a family house in the highbrow residential estate.
A security alert issued to residents of the VGC on Wednesday stated that there had been speculations on social media that Sanwo-Olu had a family house in the estate and that certain government officials lived in the VGC.
The alert signed by the Chairman of VGCPORA, Gerald Akinyemi, an engineer described the speculations as fake information, which “put our dear estate under threat of imminent attack by some hoodlums in the area”.
Violence erupted in Lekki after soldiers were deployed in the Lekki Toll Gone on Tuesday evening fired live bullets at unarmed protesters killing several of them and injuring others.
Akinyemi said, “We hereby categorically deny the speculation of Governor Sanwo-Olu having a family house in VGC. Our Security System has been breached and some of our security men have been injured.
“The hoodlums have vandalized Chicken Republic at the Heyden Filling Station near VGC. They even tried to set Heyden Filling Station ablaze but our security team and some of our residents intervened to prevent that from happening.
“The hoodlums have been temporarily disengaged from our estate through difficult negotiations with our security team and some residents who volunteered their services.
“All surrounding police stations have been set ablaze”.
The VGCPORA chairman stated further that following the growing concerns about an imminent attack, available information and security threats, they had decided to shut the following businesses and recreational parks in the estate immediately:
• Operation of Mygrocery2go store within VGC Club
• Both recreational parks
• Complete lockdown of the access control. He said, ”Only emergency services will be allowed to move in and out.
”Additionally, residents, members of their household and their domestic staff are advised to STAY INDOORS. There is a possibility that a stranger on your close or road could be one of the hoodlums. Anyone seen on closes or roads will be picked up by patrolmen. See Something, Say Something Be vigilant, security conscious and be safe”.
