Rivers Rep remanded two days to election

A lawmaker representing Etche-Omuma Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Ephraim Nwuzi, has been remanded by a Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

This followed a remand proceeding preferred against Nwuzi by the Rivers State Police Command.

He would be serving 10 days at the Nigeria Correctional Center in Port Harcourt.

The Police had filed a Remand Warrant against him, accusing the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives member of ‘treasonable felony, conspiracy and inciting violence’.

When the matter was mentioned, counsel to the accused, Emenike Ebete, made an oral application for bail, which was opposed by the prosecution, who requested that he be remanded to make way for proper investigation and arraignment.

Chief Magistrate, Amadi Nna after listening to the argument, remanded Nwuzi, who is seeking to be re-elected on Saturday, 25th of February, 2023.

The Rivers State Police Command had earlier issued a statement through its Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, that the Supervising Assistant Inspector General of Police, Abutu Yaro, ordered for the invitation of the APC candidate over an inciting video where he was directing that INEC personal and residents of the State should be shot and killed.
