Residents appeal to Lagos govt. to rehabilitate failed road

Residents of Aka Road, in Ajangbadi area of Ojo Local Government of Lagos State have appealed to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to come to their aid over the deplorable state of the road.

The residents lamented that business activities were totally crippled in the area last year because of the failed portions of the road.

They said that they were optimistic that the road would be rehabilitated during the dry season, but regretted the road was still in a sorry state now that the rains are here.

They lamented that whenever it rained, they usually found it difficult getting home for days as vehicles would avoid plying the road.

A check by The Nigerian Xpress reporter revealed that Aka Road, starting from Okokomaiko to Ajangbadi, has turned to a death trap.

Speaking on their predicament, Mr. KC Achumba, a boutique owner at Church Bus Stop, on the road, stressed that the road has plunged him into hardship. He said he hardly make sales for days.

Said he, “We are suffering here as you can see there is no road even for those with leg to pass. Look at the kind of pothole in front of my shop.

“We suffered it last year, this year we are back to the same suffer. We pay different kinds of government levies here to Ojo, yet there is no road to do business”.

A commercial driver plying Okokomaiko to Ajangbadi, Mr. Chima Ibeama, told the reporter that the road have frustrated them.

He said whenever it rained, residents had to park their vehicles for weeks waiting for the water to go down. He maintained that the road has damaged many vehicles as those who tried to risk it ended up in the mechanic worskshops.
