The Hon. Commissioner for Education in Ebonyi State Prof. Paul Awo Nwobasi has expressed the State readiness to employ new teachers into teaching profession to curtail lack of teachers in primary and secondary schools that is more endemic in the hinterland.

Prof. Paul Nwobasi dropped the hint when he was interacting with newsmen in his Office block 4 Ochudo Centenary City Abakaliki.

It could be recalled that Government of Ebonyi State under the leadership of His Excellency Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru after recruitment of thousands of unemployed people into civil service job, last year conducted another job interview to particularly recruit unemployed professional teachers into Ebonyi State teaching profession. The applicants have all been desiring to know their fate on job they applied.

The Hon. Commissioner said that the recruitment processes is ongoing, adding that immediately the processes are done, posting of teacher to the hinterland will be done smoothly and equitably so that teaching and learning in Ebonyi State will be highly appreciated.

The Education Commissioner thanked the Governor of Ebonyi State His Excellency Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for transforming Education in the state.

He debunked the allegation making round the state that Governor Nwifuru arrested commissioners for low Pace of work at the projects sites, stating that it is erroneous to attribute any arrest to the 39 number of 22 classroom building constructed across the 13 LGAs of the state.

He described the project as massive buildings that is not only 22 classroom blocks but also have laboratory, workshop, principal’s Office not counted. He said that the buildings are at their last level of roofing and parapet section.

Commissioner Nwobasi wondered why individuals and communities are trying to take back lands they have once given to government to build schools because of high cost of lands, noting that government has set up a committee that is handling school encroachment, He said that His Excellency has approved that Ministry of land should take serious look at such areas and develop survey plans of all the schools so that encroachment will end once and for all.

“I also want to engage the traditional rulers, Town Union President General, Village Heads for the people to understand that schools belong to the communities, we the government sponsors and make sure that the schools are built and managed. Communities in their own part should be in charge of the security and protection of school land and other areas” he added.
