The Acting Secretary, Health and Human Services Secretariat, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Mohammed Kawu, has disclosed that the presidential aides and other prominent Nigerians that attended the burial of Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, have tested negative for COVID-19.

The late Kyari died from COVID-19 complications and was buried on Saturday April 18, 2020 at Gudu cemetery in Abuja amid controversy over violation of the social distancing guideline.

Following the hoopla generated by the development, the Health and Human Services Secretariat, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) assured those that attended the burial had been identified and isolated.

But after 14 day in isolation, Kawu, in a statement on Sunday confirmed that the presidential aides at the burial and others had tested negative for the virus.

“The Health and Human Services Secretariat of the FCT Administration, is happy to announce that the individuals exposed during the burial of late Chief of staff to the President, Malam Abba Kyari, have completed their 14 days of isolation.

“Tests were conducted on them and they have all tested negative to COVID 19,” the statement said, adding that they had been reunited with their families.
