Police Sergeant kills female colleague in Rivers

In a case that could be likened to dog best dog, a police Sergeant in Rivers State has killed a female colleague, named Lovender Elekwachi.

The late female cop was, on Thursday, reportedly shot by a fellow policeman at Eneka, Obio Akpor Local Government Area of the state.

Spokesman of the Rivers State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni, who confirmed the incident, said that Elekwachi was shot while on traffic duty at Eneka Roundabout.

W/Sgt. Elekwachi, who hailed from Ozuzu, Etche council of the state, was shot by a fellow cop, Sergeant Bitrus Osaiah, who is attached to the Operations Department of the Command.

According g to Omoni: “Sergeant Osaiah, said to be attached to the Rivers Task Force on Decongestion, has been arrested, disarmed and undergoing Orderly Room Trial.

“Two other members of the Task Force have also been arrested and being questioned.

“The Hilux vehicle belonging to the Task Force has been impounded, the corpse of the Woman Sergeant deposited in the mortuary.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Joseph G. Mukan, has ordered an investigation into the matter with a view to unravelling the circumstances that led to her death.

“The CP appeals for calm, pending the outcome of the investigation, promising that justice must be served in the circumstance.”

The deceased was only reportedly appealing to operatives of the Task Force Against Congestion to stop destroying wares of defiant traders before Ossaiah shot her dead.
