Police invite ‘Tekno’ over half nude dancers in Lagos

For allegedly breaching public decency, the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) of the  Nigeria Police, at Yaba, Lagos State, have invited popular musician, Augustine Kelechi, aka Tekno, for questioning.

Recall that Tekno had, sometime last week, partook in a mobile advertisement that displayed half nude girls, who were dancing seductively in a transparent truck around Lekki area.

The musician was also seen spraying the half nude girls with money.

Video of the advertisement had also gone viral, generating public outcry. In response, the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency had immediately suspended the advertising firm, Pro-Vision Media Systems Limited, for the indecent act.

The Lagos State Police Command had also launched an investigation into the indecent act.

Tekno, who was at the police formation, on Tuesday morning, left at 1:30pm. His visit to the police was greeted with wide jubilation from waiting fans, who showered him with praises. To reciprocate the love, the musician had also reportedly parted with thousands of Naira.

The Legal Department at SCIID is handling the investigation as the truck used for the advertisement had also been impounded.

In his defence, Tekno had said he was merely shooting a musical video and was conveying the ladies to the location for the video.

Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Elkana Bala, confirmed the invitation of the musician.

Bala, a Deputy Superintendent of Police said, “ Yes Tekno was invited for questioning but not arrested. Investigation is ongoing and I will not want to give much details about this matter until after investigation.”
