Police in Kaduna confirm abduction of six persons on Abuja-Kaduna road

The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of six persons by gunmen in military uniforms at Rijana Village along Abuja – Kaduna expressway.

The command said that the six persons were travelling from Abuja to Kaduna in a commercial vehicle when they accosted and whisked away into the bush. registration number Abj 905 XC.

In a statement, the spokesman of the command, DSP Yakubu Sabo explained that the Divisional Police Officer of  Rijana a town under the Kaduna command received a distressed call that armed men in military uniform intercepted a bus with registration number Abj 905 XC and took away six passengers into the bush.

He said  the police patrol team within the axis were quickly mobilized and engaged the hoodlums but were able to rescue two persons –  one Rofiat Tijjani, age 17 years and one other person, both of Tudun Wada, Kaduna.

The spokesman in the statement further said, “We received a sad information from DPO Rijana that on 7/9/19 at about 23.30hrs he received a distress call that, armed men in military uniform intercepted a commercial bus (Preview ) REG NO ABJ 905 XC at a point near Rijana Village along  Kaduna – Abuja Expressway and took away six persons into the bush.

“Patrol Teams within the axis were quickly mobilised to the scene and engaged the hoodlums as a result of which one Rofiat Tijjani 17 yrs and one other person both of Tudunwada Kaduna were released by the criminals in their desperate attempt to escape.

“Both victims were taken to station alongside the vehicle. Efforts are still on to rescue the remaining four victims and arrest the Criminals.”

It will be recalled that Kaduna State government last week banned checkpoints on all Kaduna entry routes.
