Police arraign labourer for allegedly defiling minor

The police on Friday arraigned a 55-year-old labourer, Michael Nwaka in an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly defiling a six-year-old girl.

The Prosecuting Officer, Insp. Chinalu Uwadione told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence on September 1 at about 2 p.m., at No. 4, Chief Okonta Close, Orile Iganmu area of the state.

He alleged that the defendant on four occasions had lured the six-year-old with “biscuit and sweet’’ as baits.

The  offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Adeola Adedayo, remanded the defendant in the Ikoyi Correctional Centre.

Adebayo adjourned the matter until October 16 for mention.(NAN)
