Plateau: Osinbajo urges Pastors to pray for peaceful elections

Vice President Yemi Osibanjo has admonished Pastors from interdenominational churches in Plateau State to pray and fast for a free, fair and peaceful Presidential and National Assembly elections in the country.

He noted that God save his life during the Helicopter crash to contribute in taking Nigeria to the next level.

Osinbajo spoke, on Thursday, in Jos, during a special day of prayer for 2019 General Elections, organized by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Plateau State Chapter, held at Eliel Centre, Jos, Plateau State.

He said the destiny of Nigeria Nation rest heavily in the hands of pastors who hear directly from God and have great influence on their followers.

“I urged you to continue to pray and fast for those of us in Government, especially pray for me and the Saturday General elections”.

He said that after God save his life from the recent crash, saying that, “God gave me a verse in the Holy Bible of Luke13:13 and I know the devil cannot interfere on the plans of God on this nation.

“When I was picked as the Vice Presidential running mate in 2014, I ran to meet my father, Pastor Adeboye, and told him, but since it was the will of God, he told me four times that I will be the Vice President of Nigeria and he blessed me.”

Osinbajo commended Governor Simon Lalong for providing peace in Plateau State and called on the people to support him for continuity.

“I want to specially commend Governor Simon Lalong for making peace a part of his agenda in the Plateau State”.

Governor Lalong, while welcoming the Vice President to the state, assured him that Plateau would pray fervently for a peaceful elections in the country.

“The visits of the Vice President to Plateau State is historic. We recalled that he came in 2015 before the general elections and we prayed here and there was victory and the same thing will repeat itself again in this elections.

“Only God will decide who will win, but God decision is the best, and our prayer is that the election will be peaceful”.

Chairman of CAN in the state, Rev. Soja Bewarang, represented by the Secretary of CAN in the state, Rev. Father Polycarp Lubo, said the aim of the prayer was to ensure free, fair and credible elections.
