PGA Nigeria at 50th anniversary will be landmark event, says Seventh Sports

Remi Johnson, the Director of Operations, Seventh Sports Network Ltd, on Monday said that the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) of Nigeria will be celebrated with a landmark event.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the PGA of Nigeria was established in 1959

Johnson said an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that golf-loving Nigerians would have a memorable event.

“It will be a one-week of affairs for all golf-loving personalities as we intend to make the event memorable for all and sundry.

“We are going to invite all Captains and Lady Captains to Akwa-Ibom State, we are going to interact with members, rub minds to understand what we still need to do as planners.

“The PGA Executive Committee members too will relate with members to share new ideas in order to push the brand globally, this are the things we intend to achieve,’’ she said.

NAN reports that the 50th anniversary will be held at Le Meriden Hotel Akwa Ibom from August 19 to August 25 and no fewer than 160 to 200 players are expected to grace the event.

The director of operation told NAN that the events will be filled with entertainment in the evening for participants to unwind.

“Evenings will be mainly to unwind and relax with good music from our entertainment industry, there will be artistes performing for our members.

“All work and no play make golfers dull, so we will unwind as we discuss our development and our focus for the next landmark celebration,’’ she said.

Asked how the Seventh Sports International intends to market the brand and look for potential sponsors, she said: “Already we have about four states that are on board with us, I won’t let the cat out of the bag yet, I believe it’s going to be a memorable celebration.

“It’s not just Nigerian golfers, some other African countries are our members too, so it’s going to be massive,’’ she said. (NAN)
