Peter Obi’s 61st Birthday: Support group visits Kwara orphanages

Wole Adedeji, Ilorin.

The ‘Peter Obi For President Support Group’ Kwara State Chapter celebrated his 61st birthday by giving  gifts to ophanages on his behalf in Ilorin, the state capital.

The group members filed out in a convoy of cars to the Government Motherless Home along Pipeline Road and the City of Refuge F&G Ophanage both in Gaa Akanbi area of the city.

Professor Bode Olumorin, the state coordinator who spoke at the City of Refuge Ophanage said they decided to raise the gift items on behalf of Mr Gregory Peter Obi show to Nigerians the type of kindheartedness that Obi has for the country, the people in general and the less priviledged in particular.

He said people like him, devoid of ethnic, religious or any form of bias had found in Peter Obi, the type of leadership that would get to the grassroots, have a feel of their yearnings and passionately attend to it in Nigeria.

He said Obi, by his good antecedents, does not go and give money to buy or deceitfully induce people but rather get to know their feelings and attend to them appropriately.

Addressing journalists after visits to the ophanages, the Kwara ‘Peter Obi Support Group, Mr Nwora Aloysius said the group as volunteers have local chapters across the 16 local government areas of the state.

According to him, the group have over 300 coordinators made up of Muslims, Christians in the local government areas, people in the academics, clerics, youths in the 16 council areas, all the wards and many canvassers who earnestly want Peter Obi to emerge as the next president of Nigeria.

Nwora who is an Ilorin-based businessman said the support group members are volunteers who willingly give out to oil the movement with what they have, saying; “this is what Peter Obi would do for the needy and so, we are doing it on his behalf as he is celebrating his 61st birthday today”.

“I am a businessman, I am not a politician but I am a witness to what Peter Obi did as the governor of Anambra State. He was prudent with the public resources, a goal-getter. He sets before himself a development agenda and do everything neatly possible to get it done.

“Peter Oni was not in politics to amass wealth but to take care of the needy. What we are doing is in agreement with the principles of Peter Obi. Obi as the governor asked every community in Anambra to choose N20 million projects and pick contrators from their locality to do the contracts which he, the governor, would personally supervise along with all the communities.

“His legacies are still there in Anambra State for everyone to see,” Mr. Aloysius Nwora stressed.

The gifts items donated to the ophanages included noodles, provisions and toiletries for the motherless babies whose father dropped in the home but to come and pick two years after, the physically challenged, children taken from lunatic mothers, disputed children and lost-but-found babies brought to the homes by the police.
