Mr. Peter Obi, the presidential flag bearer of the Labour Party, has condemned the statement attributed to the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for saying “they would labour till they died”.
Recall that Tinubu had, while campaigning for Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State, the APC gubernatorial candidate in Saturday’s election was qioted to have said that “Think about your children and vote accordingly so you can see the future. Come out en masse.
“Don’t mind PDP and other mushroom parties – parties like Labour. They will labour till they die. God will not make you labourers.”
However, Mr. Obi, who was also in Osun State to campaign for the Labour Party’s candidate, Mr. Yusuf Lasun, replied Tinubu, stating that ‘’there’s dignity in labour’’.
“I listened to our national chairman when he said that somebody said that they can labour till death.

“Labour people who are working hard have not been paid. Somebody said that they can labour till death. When they talk like that, when they show you hatred, Labour Party will show them love.
“Labour Party wants to move Nigeria from consumption to production. You cannot do production without labour, so there is dignity in labour, and those who have laboured will get their reward. That is what we want to do in Nigeria.”
