PDP chair counsels Lagosians on second wave of COVID-19, urges more sensitisation by govt.

The Lagos State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Engr. Adedeji Doherty, has counselled Lagosians to ensure compliance with all necessary COVID-19 protocols as the second wave of the Coronavirus pandemic appeared to be biting harder.

This he said was necessary considering the recent figures of confirmed cases of the affected persons in the State.

Engr. Doherty called on government to intensify mass education and sensitisation of the public, noting that it was dangerous that many people still don’t believe that the virus is real.

He reiterated that COVID-19 is real, as very evident in the rise in the number of affected persons in the state, saying this may continue to rise if the good people of Lagos State do not adhere strictly to the laid down COVID-19 protocols.

“It is getting alarming that Lagos State presently stands at the pinnacle of the standings of confirmed cases in Nigeria, with well over 32,000 cases, while the FCT comes a very distant second with about 12,000 cases.

“It has, therefore, become necessary that Lagosians strictly adhere to the protocols of social distancing, face mask wearing, hand washing and/or usage of hand sanitizers.

“Precautions by individuals will surely go a very long way in helping the state government in controlling the spread of the virus.

“All residents of Lagos State must therefore ensure that they stay safe, not minding the inconveniences,” Engr. Doherty said.
