Pastor Chris Simon Amadi of Shalom Mercy Ministry in Aluu, River State, is telling the police all he knows about the death of his wife, Solution Amadi after it emerged he had strangulated her in a fit of rage following an argument.

According to family sources, the incident happened on November 9, after Solution confronted her husband for sending her pupils home for not paying school fees in her school.

The sources said Solution had founded the school, Solution International School in 2012 before she married Amdi.

Trouble started when his wife confronted him for driving some of her pupils from school for failing to pay on time without first checking with her.

Odinaka Opurum, older brother of Solution said his deceased sister felt embarrassed when affected parents started calling to complain about her husband’s action.

“The husband went to the school (Tuesday, November, 10) and started driving pupils away for failing to pay school fees. When the parents called the wife to ask why she drove their kids away even after paying, she appealed they should not be angry that she will find out from her husband.

“When she got to the house, they started quarrelling again and the husband started to beat her and then started to strangle her to the point that she collapsed and became unconscious.

Opurum said when Amadi noticed that his wife had become unresponsive, he took her to the nearest clinic who confirmed her dead but referred him to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) for confirmation.

“Rather than do that, he brought her body home, covered it with a cloth and made to flee,” Opurum said.

According to Opurum, his sister had complained to them of her husband’s abusive nature but decided to stay in the marriage because of her position as a marriage counsellor in the church.
