Passengers to arrive airport 3-hrs to departure time as FAAN issues fresh directives

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has told travellers they would have to arrive at airports at least three hours before their flight time when commercial flights resume.

FAAN noted this is to ensure necessary checks and screening are done for the travellers before boarding for their flights.

The new directive was coming amidst plans to resume local commercial flights which had been suspended as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Only essential flights including those for medical and evacuation purposes, amongst others, were permitted by the federal government during the lockdown.

FAAN, however, noted in a statement on its Twitter account on Monday that the new protocol is part of measures put in place to curb further spread of the COVID-19 virus.

“COVID-19 Flight Resumption Protocol for Passengers: You are advised to arrive at the airport three hours before your flight due to the new COVID-19 safety checks,” it wrote.

Earlier, FAAN had disclosed that social distancing would also be maintained amidst persons at the airports while the use of face masks within the airport premises will be enforced.
