Pakistani died of cardiac arrest not Coronavirus – Niger commissioner of health

Niger State Commissioner for Health and Hospital Services, Dr. Mohammed Makun Sidi has cleared the air on the death of a Pakistani in the state  who slumped and died last week.

The commissioner said the Pakistani who is working  at the on going Zungeru Dam Construction died of cardiac arrest not the suspected coronavirus as speculated in some quarters.

The commissioner stated this in Minna on Wednesday after the state executive council meeting at government house in Minna.

According to him,  the deceased was a truck driver and has not travel out of the country for over one year now, adding that “he died of cardiac arrest”.

Dr. Sidi also dispelled the rumor that someone died of covid -19 (Coronavirus) at Minna general hospital saying that “it was not true, the patient has been sick and on admission for some weeks now before his death”.

He urged the people to cooperate with the government  to curtail the spread of Coronavirus and diseases in the state like Lassa Fever and Meningitis.

He disclosed that parts of the proactive measures put in place by the government towards the control of the diseases is the establishment of isolation centres at Minna general hospital and isolation wards in 21 health centres across the state.

The commissioner assured that the state ministry of health  is in touch with Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
