There is a simmering outrage on various social media platforms against what has been perceived as a conspiratorial silence of activists and South East leaders on last weekend’s killing of a pregnant woman and her four children.
Several videos of the dastardly act, alleged to have been carried out in the Anocha area of Anambra State, by unknown gunmen, have been doing the rounds on the social media.
Another post situated the killings in Isulo, Orumba North Local Government Area of the state.
A commentator, whose voice can be heard in all the videos, claimed that the gunmen drove through the town, targeting every “Hausa” person in sight. It showed bodies of a hawker shot on the street with his wares scattered all over, as well as sme motor boys killed at a seeming trailer park.
However, the most heart-rending was the image of the pregnant woman and her four clearly underage children.
Coming n the heels of the outrage against the killing of Deborah in Sokoto and beheading of a member of the Anambra State HouseofAssembly, many social media users, including former presidential aide Reno Omokri, are baffled that there has been a curious silence over the killing of the pregnant woman who has been identified in some posts as Fatima.
They are calling out known activists and accusing them of double standards.
However, neither the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB)nor its miliant wing, the ESN, has claimed responsibility for the bloodbath.
Spokesperson of IPOB, Emma Powerful, had in an earlier statement, warned against the mindless killing of northerners in the South East, noting that it could spawn a retaliatory backlash which would not augur well for anybody.
