Onitsha fire incident: Victim says impostor using his burnt shop to defraud public

Daniel Anokwuru

One of the victims of the Onitsha fuel tanker fire with the name, Oluka Dominic has alleged that a Facebook user with the name, Smart Onyema has been using his burnt shop to defraud the public. Onyema, immediately after the fire incident, had posted a picture on Facebook, standing in front of a burnt shop. He posted a picture of before and after the incident.

Kind hearted Nigerians took to their Facebook page to ask for donations for the impostor. Some posted evidence of the donations they had made to him, while prominent politicians kept on asking for his direct contact so they can make a donation to him.
The real owner of the shop has disassociated himself from the scam. He said Onyema is never the owner of the shop.
