Okorocha congratulates Buhari on election victory

Johnkennedy Uzoma, Owerri

Governor Rochas Okorocha and the Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari over his resounding victory in the Presidential election that was held on Saturday, February 23, 2019.

The governor said that the election of President Buhari for second term could be adjudged the best political development for the nation at the moment because there would not have been any better alternative in the circumstance.

He equally noted that the way Nigerians voted for him only showed that he has done well in his first tenure and his enviable popularity among Nigerians.

Okorocha in a statement issued in Owerri by his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo maintained that the millions of votes he garnered across the geo-political zones in the Country only showed that he is a detribalized leader and equally an endorsement of his anti-corruption war.

He expressed optimism that the President’s second term will be better than his first term, in all ramifications.

However, the governor has berated the President of Ohanaeze, Chief Nnia Nwodo over his comments in the media on Imo, with regard to the false claim by the Returning Officer for Imo West Senatorial District, Innocent Ibeawuchi.

The governor regretted that Chief Nwodo has made Ohanaeze a branch of PDP and is attacking anybody in Igboland who is not on the same page with him in that unfortunate outing. Infact Chief Nwodo has, in recent time, used Ohanaeze to embarrass the Igbos and pushing them again into a very tight political corner.

He commended the Secretary General of Ohanaeze Barr. Uche Okwukwu for the bold steps he had taken to let the world know that Chief Nwodo has gone solo in running the affairs of Ohanaeze by making certain statements and declarations in the name of Ndigbo without weighing the implications.

The governor regretted that Chief Nwodo could believe the cock and bull story of the Returning Officer for Imo West Senatorial District who clearly showed that he had mortgaged himself by trying to tamper with the popular wish of Orlu zone people with regard to the Senatorial election and remarked that the Returning Officer had no reason to stop the announcement of the results of the remaining three local governments at his disposals, when he had already announced nine out of the twelve in the zone and the governor had won in all the 9 LGAs.

The governor congratulated Nigerians for re-electing President Buhari for second term.
