NSSF holds AGM, elects new office

Nigeria School Sports Federation (NSSF) on Thursday, concluded it’s Annual General Meeting after which it elected new officers to pilot the affairs of the Federation for the next four years.

The election which was supervised by representatives of the Ministers of Sports and Education at the Sports Bar of Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos saw the immediate past Secretary General of the body, Mrs. Olabisi Joseph emerging as President while Dickson Monday emerged as the 1st Vice President with Pastor Emmanuel Ebon and Anthonia Nwaneri emerging as 2nd and 3rd Vice Presidents respectively.

Also elected are; Austin Jonah as Secretary General, Samuel Okoh as Assistant Secretary while Fowolu Robinson Olajide emerged as Financial Secretary with the position of Treasurer going to Dr. Funsho Oba.

Rabiu Abdul and Afos Musa Emmanuel were also elected as auditors while Malam Ibrahim Mohammed will serve as Ex- officio member .

In her acceptance speech, the new President assured that she will work towards achieving the aims of the Federation and also encourage schools to pay more attention to inter- house sports where talents are usually discovered.

Joseph, while commending her predecessor for a job well done, noted that she will always count on his support and wealth of experience to succeed.

Earlier, the former President, Mallam Ibrahim Mohammad expressed his appreciation to the board members for their support during his tenure, even as he urged them to extend the same support to his successor to enable her succeed.

Malam Mohammad also appealed to corporate organisations to always support the programmes of the Federation as it strives to ensure that sports is adequately developed at the grassroots.The AGM/ election attracted delegates from all the six geopolitical zones of the country.
