NSCDC arrests 2 suspects with N300,000 fake currency in Kebbi

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kebbi State Command, on Wednesday, apprehended two suspects with N300,000 fake currency.

The NSCDC nabbed the suspects, Abubakar Shagari from Sokoto State and Shehu Atiku Barama from Gwandu Local Government of Kebbi along Sani Abacha bye pass road with fake N500 and N1,000 notes.

The Commandant, NSCDC, Kebbi State Command, Mr Sammani Ringim, who spoke in Birinin Kebbi, said “our intelligent officers, acting on the information from the public, arrested these suspects along Sani Abacha bye pass road”.

He said that the police would charge the suspects to court after the completion of investigation.

According to the NSCDC commandant, the suspects specialise in the printing and spending of counterfeit naira notes in the state.

Ringim, also in his address to officers of the command at a sensitisation workshop ahead of the general election, charged them to be professional and responsible before, during and after the elections.

The representative of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mallam Adamu Musa, Head of Voters Registration and Publicity, lauded the security agencies in the state for their preparation for the elections.

Musa said that they had shown their readiness to discharge their duties better than that of the 2015 general elections. (NAN)
