No king in Oke-Eletu, Ijede, says Onamade

The General-Secretary of Oke-Eletu community, at Ijede, Ikorodu, Lagos State, Hon. Oluwatosin Onamade, has urged people in the community to ignore a directive by one Remi Ajalogun banning some activities in the community.

Remi Ajalogun, had in a notice circulated in the community and signed by him purportedly on behalf of Ayanolu and Sogba ruling houses and Oke-Eletu In Council directed churches, mosques, artisans, merchants and all Community Development Associations, CDAs not to deal with any individuals without recourse to the palace of Eletu.

The notice also banned ‘illegal collection of foundation and roofing fees until further notice.’

Ajalogun, in the notice, based the directive on a Lagos State High Court judgment delivered by Justice L. B Lawal-Akapo ‘authenticating  Chief  Omotayo Ajayi as the Eletu of  Oke-Eletu.

Reacting to the directives, Onamade carpeted Ajalogun for issuing such a directive without the approval of the General Secretary of Eletu Community , a position he, Onamade holds.

He further said the judgment Ajalogun referred to was in relation to the Ayanolu family alone.

“The judgment was  only based on the Ayanolu family alone, not on the Sogba royal ruling house. It is highly disrespectful and illegal for anyone to paralyze the agenda and development of the families involved in the royal development of our dear community. The judgment is not a certificate of kingship authority for Eletu,” Onamade said.

“Under which authority can Mr. Remi Ajalogun suspend the activities within the community without the consent of Oke-Eletu General Secretary. There’s nothing like Eletu in Council in our dear community. It’s an impersonation for someone without a certificate of ruling council to be identifying himself as the King of Oke-Eletu, ‘ he added.

He further said that ‘Eletu of Oke-Eletu title does not have the authority of the  local government, and it is. not  the  state government  restricting the activities of the community.’

He urged the people in the community to go about their normal businesses.

“None of the listed merchants, churches and others should allow any unauthorise body to discourage their activities within the community, and they should always abide by the peaceful agenda laid down by the leader of the community till the confirmation by the General Secretary of Oke-Eletu,” he said.

He further described the OkeEletu In-Council as ‘ a fraudulent group called Oke-Eletu and urged the people to disregard the notice, adding ‘Ajalogun who calls himself Baba Oba in Oke-Eletu community is just a distractor with no genuine agenda for the community.

“We have never had a king in Oke-Eletu and nobody should ever call himself one,

The claim by Omotayo Ajayi that he is presently in lpebi ( a secluded ritual performed by Kings) while parading himself as King  is a lie and attempts to scam people in the community. There is nothing of such in our community as our community does not have a King, ” he concluded.
