NIS silver jubilee, convocation get March 21 date

Students of National Institute For Sports (NIS) , Lagos who graduated from the school from 2005-2018 now have reason to smile as the institution has mapped out plans for their convocation that will enable them collect their certificates many years after graduating from the school.

The activities for the silver jubilee celebration of the school slated for Thursday, March, 21, 2019 will begin  with an exhibition/ pre- convocation lecture and gala night planned for the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos and is expected to attract sports personalities like Olympic gold medalist, Chioma Ajunwa- Oparah ( MON), ex Super Eagles skipper, Chief Segun Odegbami,(MON) Chairperson of Nigeria Women League Aisha Falode, CEO of Brilla FM, Larry Izamoje, ace broadcaster, Charles Anazodo, Sola Aiyepekun amongst others who are to deliver lectures on the topic ; Activating Sports Potentials, Quality, Economy and Lifestyle.

The institutes consultant, Wale Akintunde of Marcoms Support Services told our correspondent  that the event will be rounded up with a convocation lecture titled: “NIS:The Realities of our time” to be delivered by Professor E.O Morakinyo of the Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education, University of Ibadan.

According to him, the ceremony was made possible by the visionary leadership of the institution’s Director, Dr. Eke Chukwudi Kingdom who since assumption of office has brought about a lot of innovations to the school noting that  government and corporate organizations need to encourage the governing council by investing more in the institution to enable it achieve its set objectives.

“ It’s a thing of joy that NIS after many years of producing quality coaches like

Olympic gold medalist, Chioma Ajunwa, Ladan Bosso, late Coaches Yemi Tella and Amodu Shuaibu just to mention but a few now deemed it fit to hold convocation for its graduands.

“ This was made possible by the good leadership of the Director. Dr. Eke Kingdom Chukwudi and both the management and staff must be encouraged by all stakeholders including the Alumni to succeed,” he stated.
