NIS boss meets Foreign Affairs ministry officials over Nigeria Visa Policy 2020

To further discuss the workability and guidelines for the Nigeria Visa Policy 2020, the Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Muhammad Babandede, recently, visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meeting, which Babandede termed strategic, had in attendance the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Amb. Zubairu Dada, the Permanent Secretary, Amb. Mustapha Lawal, and Directors in the ministry.

In his address during the meeting, the Comptroller General of Immigration (CGI) said, “ The meeting is to deepen discussions on the operationalisation of  Nigeria Visa policy 2020 at the  missions abroad.

“We also need to consider the principle guiding Visa issuance and processes, reciprocal considerations among others. We also need for considerable effort to improve relationships between the Diplomatic Communities and Nigeria  in view of policies of government as it affects Immigration and Diplomacy. ”

 He further stated that he Ministry of Foreign Affairs was key to the success of the implementation of the Nigeria Visa policy 2020, in order to effectively provide “One global System’’ of Visa regime that will take care of the concerns of Nigerians and the Prosperity of the nation.

Minister of State for the ministry, while alluding to the need to consider best Diplomatic way of ending visa issues, said that reciprocal gesture will always be taken where and when necessary, especially where Nigerians are treated otherwise.

The Minister also congratulated the Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service for embarking on this laudable  project that will reap – in economic growth, social development and investment to the Country via the 79 classes of Visa design to cater for all classes of Migrants coming to Nigeria.

On his part, the Permanent Secretary thanked CGI Babandede for the expository address that captured areas that have direct bearing with the Ministry and its officials on mission outside Nigeria and assured of a robust collaboration on issues raised that need to be streamlined.
